Peter Butterworth’s character, the disbelieving missionary in Carry On Up The Khyber would have empathised. Close on 40 degrees outside and I’m part of a dozen or so Brits sitting down steadfastly to Roast Turkey and Roast Pork with all the trimmings.
All that’s missing is the walls caving in and the band playing on.
With typical British resolve we plough on through the delicious, if untypical middle of Aussie summer fayre, with gusto. Then someone hits the iPod and Fairytale of New York (Hello Chris!) fills the room with cynical yet seasonal cheer.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas….

Hey H,
Glad to hear that all is going well. Thanks very much for the Blog a suberb read that has helped me through these painstaking hours on Xmas Eve here at work.
Haven’t read it for a while as only just got over the terrible result (although dont tell my family but was secretly glad for England so that you could enjoy it!!) and felt ready to say Hello!

Thanks for the shout out. It was almost that hot round at the inlaws with heating and oven plus 20 people in a small bungelow. Didn’t take off the Christmas jumper though
