Even after the pair’s heroics yesterday it was still a near insurmountable task this morning. On the fourth evening India were bedraggled, their captain showing no energy, desire or fight for that crucial partnership breaker – they were a team bored of the long, hard Test match slog (England can surely take advantage of their such poor fight at the end of each day’s play if they can grind through the first two sessions..?)
This morning India were always going to be refreshed, ready to win, England were always going to have to start again and the pitch was always going to do just that little bit more.
We all knew this, every England fan knew it was nigh-on impossible to get a result. Yet there is a nagging hope at the back of the mind that we may pull of the improbable. It is the reason you went to the ground this morning, it is the reason I woke up at 4am this morning. It is the reason why, when Bresnan and Swann were batting and staring down the barrel, we still believed there was a chance to plunder a quick 150 runs and maybe save the game.
Why do we do this, H? Because we wouldn’t be English cricket supporters if we didn’t.
There’s always the next game…

Ruddy ‘ell Johnno get your own blog son….
Just kidding fella. Fair play to you for getting up at Wisson O’Clock this morning, sorry it wasn’t worth it.
It’s that bloody hope you know…. Kills you it does.
Yeah, today wasn’t great. Wondering if I’ll ever see England win away. Mind you, we’re in New Zealand in March, so I might get chance then (sorry Geoff!). Hopefully England will discover some patience, ticker and pride between now and Mumbai (Cooky, Prior & Swann (first innings bowling) excluded…) otherwise this is going to be a long ol’ tour.
Have a great week mate.

Sorry H, just having read your earlier posts I felt inspired and obliged to write something meaningful and got a little carried away with thoughts of our demise still fresh in the mind! Enjoy the trip to Mumbai mate.
P.S. your England away record is still better than Ole Wiss’ I reckon…!
